Participants: First Year BAMS Students and First Year Teaching Faculty, KAMCH
As part of the Transitional Curriculum, Day 14 was dedicated to the Village Adoption
Programme ‘Jeevaneeyam’, aimed at sensitizing first-year BAMS students to community
health, rural healthcare delivery, and the practical application of Ayurvedic principles.
The programme commenced at 9:30 AM, with first-year BAMS students and teaching staff
travelling by college bus to Asoknagar, Someswara Village. The inaugural function was held
at the Someswara Panchayat Office.
The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Mattadi, Chief Officer, Someswara Panchayat, in the
presence of:
• Smt. Kamala – Panchayat President
• Sri. Ravi Shankar – Vice President, Someswara Panchayat
• Dr. Vidya Prabha R. – Principal, KAMCH
• Dr. Bhavya B. S. – Vice Principal, KAMCH
• Dr. Karthik K. – Medical Superintendent
• Dr. Suresh Negalaguli – Medical Advisor
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Shreerama K., Associate Professor, Department of
Samhita Siddhanta and Sanskrit. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Soumya Ashok,
Assistant Professor of the same department. As a token of gratitude, the Principal of KAMCH
presented a token of appreciation to the Panchayat President.
Village Visit and Field Activity:
Following the inaugural programme, students visited the village where each student
adopted one family. Ten students were assigned to each first-year faculty member, and
under their guidance, they visited houses for systematic data collection. Students
introduced themselves, collected data regarding general health status and health concerns,
and explained the Jeevaneeyam programme, Ayurveda, and its treatment modalities to the
families.
The team returned to the college by 1:30 PM. The programme provided valuable
community exposure to students. Participation was enthusiastic, and the teaching staff
offered excellent guidance and support. Overall, the programme was conducted
successfully.
