SAMHITA SIDDHANTA AND SAMSKRITA

The Department of Samhita and Siddhanta form the foundation of Ayurvedic education, focusing on the fundamental principles and classical texts that shape the science of Ayurveda. This department introduces students to the basic concepts, philosophies, and methodologies of Ayurveda as enshrined in the Brihattrayi (Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya) and other classical treatises. The department emphasizes the study of Padartha Vigyana, Ayurvedic philosophy, and the principles of health, disease, and treatment, providing students with a deep understanding of Ayurvedic thought and its relevance in contemporary healthcare. Through regular classes, seminars, workshops, and manuscript study, the department nurtures analytical thinking and interpretative skills among students, enabling them to appreciate Ayurveda both as a science and a way of life. The faculty members are dedicated to preserving the traditional wisdom of Ayurveda while encouraging research-oriented learning and critical analysis of classical literature.

Sanskrit plays a vital role in the foundation of Ayurvedic education. Sanskrit is the language of the classical Ayurvedic texts, and a proper understanding of it is essential for comprehending the original scriptures (Samhitas) and grasping the true essence of Ayurvedic concepts.The department focuses on teaching basic grammar, vocabulary, and interpretation skills, enabling students to read and understand the classical Ayurvedic literature such as Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya in their original form.Special emphasis is given to medical terminologies, shlokas, and sutras relevant to Ayurveda, helping students appreciate the precision and depth of Sanskrit expressions in medical science.
