On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Kanachur Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital in association with Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences organized a “HANDS-ON WORKSHOP ON PLASTINATION”, a specialized technique for preserving biological specimens for educational and research purposes. The resource person was Dr. N. M. Shamasundar, who is a pioneer in this technique. He is a retired Professor of Anatomy from JSS Medical College, Mysuru.
The workshop commenced with an inaugural session at 9:30 AM, featuring a welcome address by Dr. Roshan S, Head of the Department of Anatomy at KIMS. Dr. N. M. Shamasundar delivered an insightful lecture on plastination techniques and their applications in anatomical education. Participants then engaged in a hands-on session, applying the learned techniques under expert guidance. The session was attended by all the staff members of Kanachur Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital. The day concluded with a valedictory function and certificate distribution at 3:30 PM, with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vidyaprabha R, Principal of KAMCH. This initiative underscores the commitment of Kanachur Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital to enhance medical education through innovative methods, providing students and faculty with valuable skills in specimen preservation.
